Hi, it is such a pleasure to meet you.
I have been writing and teaching poetry for several years, with success across many publications and I am the convenor of Golden City Poetry, Bendigo. In recent years I have complied much of my poetry into three volumes with an overall heading ‘Merry Go Round’. I love variety.
My subjects cover many areas and my approach varies from the comedic to the tragic, with a little raunchy. I am a member of several poetry groups in Victoria, Northern NSW and the Gold Coast where I recite weekly when on regular visits. Please see below for examples of my verse.
Brenda the Tenda, Poet
Merry Go Round Volume 1
Round and round the Merry Go Round
Circular courses we fly high
Round and round up and down
Smiling faces all for a pound
Decorative horses a spy am I
Round and round the Merry Go Round
Bright the costume wears this clown
I want to fly way up to the sky
Repetitive courses never a frown
Tinkling music so sweet the sound
White the clouds blue my eye
Round and round the Merry Go Round
Up and round far off the ground
From way away I hear a sigh
World and weary release this hound
Round and round the Merry Go Round
This my last ride my time is nigh
Prepared I am bathed and gowned
Perfumed and crowned
Saddle me up
I’m outward bound.
Vol 1
Unheard by you
Sweet words of love in
The city light.
Merry Go Round Volume 2
Nature Dress
In my wardrobe is a lacy dress
I have never worn, I don’t know why
I just haven’t,
Maybe it’s too lacy like a wedding dress
In my wardrobe is a black lacy sheath
I have never worn, I don’t know why
I just haven’t, maybe it’s too black,
My donor card prepared for use.
In my wardrobe is a green cotton dress
My mother nature dress with flowers
And butterflies and pollen nosed bees
I wear it often though ragged and never pressed
I feel fertile in my green dress, other worldly,
More life than life itself.
Vol 2
Who is Mandy
Making out with?
The chef, the captain, one of the chicks?
Pale and patchy
After a wild-life session at sea.
Merry Go Round Volume 3
Dear Dorothea Mackellar
Dorothea if born today you would be a conservationist, a scientist, an educator warning of a perilous future
Of stranded migratory birds chocked with plastics unable to fly, chicks starving in their rookeries
Of seals, whales dying in their ocean’s bellies stuffed with flotsam, turtle nests flowing with garbage
I see you lodged in a tree house fighting for the forests, the oxygen we breathe, our survival
I see you mourning the cutest of the cute the koala on the verge of extinction deforestation their demise
Development called progress the lie to end all lies
I see you in jeans, tee-shirt, sneakers, placard in hands, in the street, rallying young and old, a call to action polemical and poetical.

Vol 3
Such sorrow
when you said goodbye
cupids arrow misfired.
